dirt girls (2023)

As a member of the Pocket Playfest cohort, I was one of six directors who collaborated with a playwright in order to generate the first draft of a new play. Following a month of written feedback, and a month of rehearsals with actors, we presented thirty-minute excerpts of our plays at The Understudy cafe in Andersonville.

Part of Pocket Theatre VR's mission is making theatre accesible, even to those who cannot attend in person. As such, a recording of our reading can be found here.

meet me on the corner (2022)

In 2022, I had the chance to direct a staged reading of Meet Me on the Corner, a new musical by Gayle Anne Weinstein produced through Chicago Writer's Bloc. It was my first time working on a musical, and I learned a ton.

I love working on staged readings of new works, because it forces me to focus on stripping my directorial style to the core elements of storytelling. I have to ask myself "using as little staging as possible, how can I bring this play to life, without sacrificing depth?"
